I live in Mt Eden and its easy to get everywhere either driving or busing!!

Question: Is there a postal code for sending a letter to New Zealand/Auckland?
I am sending a letter to my friend for her birthday but I am going off a return adress she put on the back of the letter she sent to me. I live in Canada, and I am wondering, did she forget to give me a postal code or is there in fact not one for New Zealand? I want the letter to be kind of a surprise so I dont want to ask her! Hoping you could help...

Answer: Yes New Zealand has postal codes and has done for some time. However, they have not been used to any great extent. Recently, the post office overhauled the whole system and introduced a far more comprehensive set of postal codes. They are actively encouraging their usage so that they can make the whole delivery system more efficient. Don't worry about not putting a postal code on your card/letter. As long as the address is accurate it will be delivered without the code. There is a website where you can get the correct code if you really want it. It is:

Question: Is there a Maltheia Dairy Farm in Auckland, New Zealand?
Maltheia Dairy Farm

Address: Ferryhill Road Epsom Mount Eden 1023 Auckland New Zealand
Auckland - 5434

Could you please check if this address is'nt a scam? If possible, please attach pics of said company and who are the contact persons.

Answer: No! There isn't.
There is an ad circulating in the Philippines and probably other places that is headlined thus:
Address: Ferryhill Road Epsom Mount Eden 1023 Auckland New Zealand
Auckland - 5434
Contact: Anahera Maori(Human Resources Department)
Email: maltheiajobs/at/yahoo.co.nz

It may be a scam, it may be a Maori training or resource centre or it may be an employment agency. But it's more likely a scam.
Take a look at the details: There is no Ferryhill Road in Epsom. Epsom is not Mt Eden and you can't have the 2 suburbs in the one address. The Post Code - Mount Eden 1023 is contradictory with the Post Code of Auckland 5434.
There are no "farms" as such within about a 40 km radius of Mount Eden, but it maybe where the registered office of a farm is located, although the phone book doesn't show that such a farm or office exists.
This could very well be a con by a group of disaffected locals who will sell you an immigration permit and a passport issued by there own organisation, and has no official standing. It's been done before.

Question: What is the best way to get from the airport in Auckland, New Zealand to the Mount?
I want to go and see my x-husaband in New Zealand. I want it to be a surprise. I just cant figure out how to get from A to B.

Answer: The other answerers don't seem to catch on very fast.
Of course you mean Mt Maunganui; there is only one place in the entire country known as "the Mount", and that is obviously where you mean.
Tauranga Airport is situated almost at the base of the Mount, it's about 30 minutes flight from Auckland domestic terminal.
Inercity (and other) buses that run from Downtown Auckland to central Tauranga will usually cross over to the Mount if required also.
Some bus lines call at Auckland Airport on their way out of Auckland, but Intercity expects you to catch their service at Manukau, about a 10 or 15 minute taxi ride from the Airport.
Try googling bus services, as there is probably quite a bit of choice. Some may even drop you at the door at the Mount.
The total trip is about 3 hours by bus.

Question: Where in Auckland, New Zealand are Arabic language lessons taught?
Hello all.

I am a multilingual lover of languages and I want to add to my repertoire by trying Arabic. I was wondering where in (preferably central) Auckland I can find a place that gives lessons. Obviously, there is the option of a private tutor but finding an institution that gives traditional classes would be great. Thanks.

Answer: Only popular languages are taught in classes in Auckland - like your standard French & Italian & for business & employment reasons - Mandarin & Japanese. Most people aren't into learning Arabic so you would have to go private. I've not even seen anyone advertising this privately so you'd need to enquire at some kind of Arabic organisation or consulate, etc in NZ.

And try in the basement at Borders Bookstore on Queen St. They have a huge language section with books & CD's.

Question: For people who have been to the Airport in Auckland,New Zealand?
I have a three hour layover in Auckland New Zealand and im going to want to get some food at the aiport do i have to use the Australian dollar to buy food in the Airport in Auckland or can I just use my american money?

Answer: You are able to use USA and Aussie dollars at selective outlets in Auckland International. Most touristy places also accept USA dollars on a wider scale. You are also able to change currency at any of the Travelex Kiosks although you would get a better exchange rate from the HSBC Bank. Auckland Airport (International) has since I can remember accepted USA dollars (the retailer usually exchanges - and they get a better rate.) - I have been travelling for well over 8 years now with last one last week coming back from China (and the last Duty Free on arrival side before customs also accepts any currency).

One word of advice - if you change your AU (Australian) currency here for NZ dollars - you will do well as NZ dollars and USA are exchanging at just above the AU. DO NOT CHANGE NZ dollars back to AU as you will lose alot in Aussie - try to avoid exchanging your AU dollars unless you change the NZ dollar over to USA as we have a slightly better adjustment than the AU to USA. Buy USA dollars here after exchanging the AU for NZ (more kick in your currency than AU directly to USA - you will pickup a few more bucks if you use HSBC or BNZ. The ANZ offers crappy sell rates.)

Question: What would be the most stunning place in commuting distance to Albany, North Auckland, New Zealand?
I may be moving to the Auckland area soon, working in Albany, which is a few kilometres north of Auckland. I currently live on the Otago peninsula, which is a truly stunning place, scenery-wise.
Is there a place of comparable beauty within about a 50km-radius around Albany, maybe?

Answer: Right---try Shelley Beach on the Kaipara,
Muriwai/Waimauku,
Karekare (although that may be a bit far away for commuting)
Puhoi,
Cornwallis,
or even around Greenhithe/Hobsonville,
Stanmore Bay or other places at Whangaparoa,
and also a recommendation, don't end up at Paremoremo (on the inside).
You probably won't find any of these places as good as the Otago Peninsula, but have a look at them anyway.

Question: What advice would you give a person thinking of moving to Auckland, New Zealand?
I am trying to get a Radio job working at a hip-hop station and need some advice on what are the women are like over in auckland. What are the beaches like as well.

Answer: Oh, my pretty much all of the people answering have never been to Auckland . Auckland is pretty tame. Its certainly safe to walk home in the night, maybe not south auckland but the rest is fine. Piha is an awesome beach, but if you want the best, go to Mt Maunganui (Tauranga). The women are awesome, theyre so friendly and I love going there. There are heaps of radio stations but I dont know much about that.

Question: What's the climate of Auckland, New Zealand, like to live with?
I may be moving to Auckland from Otago soon. I appreciate the dry, sunny winters in Otago, although the cold really gets to me, and the crazy weather during spring and summer are not my cup of tea.
What's the climate like in Auckland, in the long run?
Do the rainy winters get to you?

Answer: Although Auckland winters are wet, they're definately not as cold as what you're used to! It's not so bad to deal with! In Auckland there is a fair bit of crazy whether in spring-like right now there is a thunderstorm but after winter it gets warm really quickly and summers by the beach are beautiful!
hope this helps

We may be moving to New Zealand. We're going to need to know if there are colleges in either Auckland or Wellington that have Graphic Design as a course option. If anyone knows can they post the web addresses for those colleges.

We also need to know whether colleges in New Zealand are fee based or state run, and which month of the year the academic years start.

Question: What are some photogenic areas around Auckland, New Zealand?
Particularly to be photographed at dawn, but not specifically. Also, I'm not a tourist, I live in Auckland, so no, I do not want to photograph the sky tower.

Any help is appreciated!

Answer: Piha Beach is a famous icon to be photographed. The Waitakere Ranges overlooking Auckland City and the Native Bush and Beaches would be awesome. One Tree Hill or Cornwall Park from the top of the Volcano or the Top of Mt Eden, or what about from Mission Bay Beach looking out to Ranitoto island...I hope you find the perfect sunrise!
